I've been slightly working on the game in the back. Had a conversation about it as well when I met Tom Fulp (Newgrounds founder) a few weeks ago. He liked it, and he thought it was cool how it had LAN capability, but he also said the best thing to do would be to implement AI, which I really agreed with, because, even with LAN, most of the time, when people are browsing around online through games and videos, they're ordinarily not with a second person. I think it would be a good idea to have at least SOMETHING for the player to interact with even when alone, even if it's sort of a crappy AI, it's something for them to experiment with and get used to. I'll try to do that.
However, the biggest problem I've been having with the game has been none other than the plot, of all things... didn't expect THAT to halt production... I originally had the idea of each fighter being from a different universe entirely, and how they each have a unique species, time-period, weaponry and so forth. So you could have some archer person against a blob with a laser gun. I thought it was a fun, unique idea, but I was told by a few people that the whole "separate universes" thing is Mortal Kombat, which, I actually was unaware of. So now I'm sort of back to square one with the plot; I'm not really quite sure what I want the theme to be, even. It's weird seeing the days just pass by and no thought of the plot or game itself progressing whatsoever. You can't just sit and try and think of an idea, if you do, nothing will come, other than perhaps forced ideas. It needs to come to you naturally.
So that's that with the game. The actual function of it is still pretty good... just... the plot. Ugh. Bleh.
Also, I'll be moving back to Colorado this early August. I dunno if I mentioned that in a previous post already, but yes, that's what I'm doing. A lot of things aren't quite going as planned here. It doesn't mean it was a "waste of time" though, I got a new experience and perspective on things. I can just see it as a long visit. I guess I could say, overall I'm still glad I went here.
